Veronica
and Malcolm White
Church Mission Society
Chaplaincy, Amman, Jordan
Veronica and Malcolm are based at the Church of the Redeemer. Malcolm is the new
Chaplain to the English speaking congregation.
When those from CMS first came to Amman they found a small city that had
recently been chosen as Emir Abdullah's new capital. They decided on Jabal
Amman, another of the city's seven hills, as a site for their work, and thus
today it is on this hill, just half a mile to the west of the ancient citadel,
that two large schools and the Anglican Church of the Redeemer continue the work
of nurturing Christian faith to all who would draw near. All are now part of the
Anglican Diocese of Jerusalem under its present Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Ria-Abu
El-Assal.

We remember that this region which we now call Jordan was almost completely
Christian before Muslim rule came here in the Eighth Century A.D., and this faithful
community, which proudly asserts its origins in the Pentecost Assembly of Acts
Ch.2 has roots that easily precede the coming of Christianity to
England.
Letters from Jordan are included in the church newsletters.
