Prayer Ministryopen hands

St Barnabas Church offers an opportunity for those attending their services to seek prayer for a need for themselves or for someone they are concerned about, or to give thanks for God’s blessings in their life.  Members of the Prayer Ministry Team are trained, accountable and follow the church’s policy on Prayer Ministry.  Team members are authorised by the Vicar and they meet together regularly to pray for this ministry.  Prayer Ministry is available at the end of church services in an area at the front of the church.

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us.  And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of Him.” 1 John 5:14-15

Pastoral Prayer

Pastoral Prayer may be requested by those who would like an opportunity to have an extended time of prayer and to talk in more detail about their problems.  An appointment would be arranged to meet with two members of this team who will spend time with you in prayer and listening to God.  Please ask a member of the Prayer Ministry Team to refer you to the Prayer Ministry Team Leader who will discuss this further with you.

Listening Ministry

We have a team of trained listeners who have been trained by the Acorn Christian Foundation.  If you need someone to talk to who will listen and respect what you say, this may be the right help for you.  The team of Listeners use active reflective listening skills.  They are supervised and receive on-going training.  Please ask a member of the Prayer Ministry Team or one of the Clergy who will refer you to the Listening Team Leader.
