We are delighted that weddings and baptisms are allowed again, with certain restrictions. Please email us if you are interested in a wedding or baptism at St Barnabas or telephone the vicar, David Goodhew, 01642 817306.
Congratulations on deciding to get married. We are so excited for you and would love to help and support you as you get ready for the big day!
A wedding is one of life’s great moments, facing each other making promises and receiving God’s blessing. We want to make it special for you so you can make life-long memories as you enter this commitment together.
As we are part of the Church of England, there are a few requirements to meet in order to get married here. Please download our wedding guide for more details. There is also lots of useful information on planning a wedding at yourchurchwedding.org. To speak the church administrator, please visit the church office which is inside the church hall, next to the church and is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 am – 12 noon.
If these times are not convenient, it is possible to make an appointment to see our administrator at other times by filling in the form below.
At St Barnabas we are delighted to baptize children or anyone who has never been baptized before. Baptism (also known as Christening) is a beautiful gift from God – a sign of new birth, of complete forgiveness and acceptance, of the hope of eternal life and of belonging to a loving community.
To have a baptism in St Barnabas, you either need to live in the parish (see image below) or have a connection with the church. Baptisms usually take place on the second Sunday of the month at 11.15am.
If you are thinking about baptism, we would encourage you to come along on a Sunday to get a feel for the church community. We expect you to come at least 3 times before the baptism and attend a baptism preparation group where you will learn about what baptism is all about and the practical arrangements for the service – if godparents can come too that is great.
The next thing is to talk to one of the clergy or our church administrator who will let you know when the next baptism preparation group is. To speak to the church administrator, please visit the church office which is inside the church hall, next to the church and is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 am – 12 noon. If these times are not convenient, it is possible to make an appointment to see our administrator at other times by filling in the form below.
