On Sunday 13th May the Evening Service will be holding a Give Day, where we will spend the afternoon serving the community. We will begin with lunch, briefing and prayer at 1pm. We will then set out from the church to serve local families through practical projects. We are working with Safe Families for Children to identify a couple of specific families that we can work with. We are likely to be doing painting, cleaning, gardening, and DIY, but it depends on what would be most helpful to the families we are linked up with. In the evening, instead of the usual service, we will gather together to share a meal, and to pray and reflect on the day.
To sign-up please join the event on our Facebook page, or contact Sam Tyndall. Please bring a packed lunch, and a few quid for the evening meal. Please to wear clothes you don’t mind getting mucky and bring any painting, cleaning or gardening equipment you’d be happy for us to use.
On Sunday 6th we will be taking a financial offering at the back of church to cover the basic costs of the day, such as decorating and cleaning materials. However, we would also love to be able to bless the families we are working with by buying them other items they might need if we raise enough money; perhaps new curtains, a toaster or storage for the childrens’ bedroom.
If you are not taking part but would like to support the Give Day, your prayerful and financial support would be much appreciated. For more information about the Give Day speak to a member of the Evening Service leadership team; Hannah Jeal, Hazel Murray, Linda Peacock, Miriam Swaffield, Pauline Barwick, Sam Tyndall and Simon Honeysett.
