Caring for one another as a church family is core to being a Christian. Here are arrangements for how we support one another as a church family during the coronavirus outbreak.
First, we’ve seen a great deal of care shown since we came to St Barnabas. Please keep it up! Phoning people, emailing, skype, sending a card – this really matters. Please think if there is someone you could contact.
Second, the church leadership have created a network of ‘pastoral contacts’. The ‘pastoral contacts’ will be looking out for members of the congregation. They include Life Group leaders and designated members of groups within the church – namely the choir, the music group, Lydia, Beta, Prayer Ministry Team, Cleaning Team, Gardening Team, Footloose Ladies, Welcomers, Home Communicants. They will offer support.
Third, children and families have particular needs. Mark Walley is heading up a ‘Children & Families Taskgroup’ who will be supporting children and families during this period.
Fourth, we have formed a ‘Senior Pastoral Team’. This consists of myself, Lindsey, Mark Walley, Allison Ward, Ann Watson, Kate and Ray Morris, Ken Whiteway and John Ravalde. The ‘Senior Pastoral Team’ will support the team of pastoral contacts and offer whatever pastoral support is needed beyond that.
Fifth (!), if you have concerns about anyone – especially those not connected with the groups named previously – please get in touch with us.
These are difficult days, but Christian community is a great thing and we all have a part to play in making that community a reality.
We are praying for you. Please pray for us.
